Fun Fall Activities for You and Your Kids
The first day of autumn is Wednesday September 22nd! As the leaves start to fall and the temperature drops, you're probably looking to enjoy the last of the nice weather before winter arrives. Along the Way has you covered for lots of fall inspired activities to do with your kids! And as always, they are budget friendly (which is the best part)!
Visit a local farm to pick apples or pumpkins
Take your kids to pick their own pumpkins or apples this fall! It is one of my favorite memories as a child. You can support your local farm and it will allow you and your kids to get outside and enjoy the weather. Some farms even offer free hayrides and other activities for kids! Find a farm near you here.
Pumpkin painting party
After you pick those pumpkins, ditch the traditional carving (which can be dangerous for kids and usually turns into parents doing most of the work!) Instead, opt for painting pumpkins. You can even grab some glitter and stickers at the dollar store for your kids to use to decorate their pumpkin.
Baking
Put those apples you've picked at the orchard this year to good use! Bake a festive fall dessert with your kids. One of the most budget friendly crafts is leaf art! It's an activity that gets kids outside and you probably have all the supplies you need at home already! There are lots of different crafts you can make with leaves that have fallen in your yard.
Fall Hike
Make some hot chocolate for your kids and put it in a thermos and enjoy a hike. There are so many great trails to explore to take in the fall scenery! Find a trail near you here.
Family game night
Have a family game night around the fireplace. Make the prizes for each game a piece of halloween candy.
Backyard Bonfire
Have a backyard bonfire with the kids and roast marshmallows. Make some hot chocolate and tell ghost stories around the fire!
Check out local events and festivals
Many towns host fall events. Check out if there are any local events happening near you! Often, these events are free entry and have lots of fun for the whole family.
