FAQS
Can you provide your child care service to the clients our agency serves?
YES! We offer social service agencies the option to purchase child care hours, in bulk. This is most appropriate as a means to help your client become employment-ready. We provide living wages to our child care workers starting at $20/hr so it is not an option designed for long-term support. Agencies typically use discretionary funding to temporarily bridge their clients’ child care gaps until the point the client is work-ready. We can also assist you by co-authoring a grant to provide this service to your clients.
How does bulk child care purchasing for our agency work?
It’s pretty simple. Schedule a meeting here. Once we determine we want to become official partners, you’d purchase the number of child care hours you want to fill in gaps for your clients (e.g. 100 hours, 200 hours, etc). We will credit your account for the bulk purchase amount and draw down on it with use. Your clients need to undergo our onboarding process before we begin servicing them, but once they are in our system, you decide how & when you will offer this to your clients, and even whether or not they will have a co-pay.
What’s the end goal?
Our goal is for you as a partnering social service agency is to bridge the child care gap in the short-term, until you (and we) are confident that your client has the support they need to rise to their full work potential. Along The Way was funded with Montgomery County ARPA monies to support under and unemployed single mothers (who either live or work in Montgomery County) back into the workforce fully. Through this project, employers apply to become an Along The Way Employment Partner, which means that we will provide them employment referrals & serve existing staff who qualify for the program with in-home child care during 2nd/3rd/weekend shifts; their employer contribution is matched by the ARPA funding, which distributes the cost burden between: government, employer, the community, and the employee (who has a sliding scale co-pay based on income, with those under 200% of the federal poverty threshold receiving the service for free.) However, Along The Way have several assessments in place to ensure that we are confident in someone’s ability to be a rockstar employee (with our very robust holistic support) so that we are setting both your client & the employer up for success.
The end end goals are:
Filling the service gaps your agency has in helping (child care is the biggest one usually), so that the services you do offer are made stronger
Effective hiring & retention strategies for local employers
Economic Self-Sufficiency for your clients
